Jordan Hoover, a senior at Chesterton High School, was recently honored as the Student of the Month in the Social Studies department by the Chesterton-Porter Rotary club.
While a guest at the regular noon meeting, Jordan told the group how he is involved in Cross Country, Track, and Debate. In addition, Jordan is a DJ and the Sports Director at WDSO, the student run radio station. Jordan is also an Eagle Scout with BSA. In his spare time, Jordan is an avid ham radio operator and enthusiast, building his own electronic circuits. During the recent storm, Jordan was a weather spotter for the area.
Jordan lives with his parents and 13 year old sister in Chesterton. Jordan would like to pursue a degree in aeronautical engineering and is considering attending Embry Riddle, Purdue, MIT, Notre Dame, or the Air Force Academy.
Jordan’s host for the Rotary meeting was Past District Governor and Student of the Month Coordinator, Jim Jeselnick. Jordan received a framed certificate, a Rotary pen, and a $50 savings bond. In addition, $25 will be donated in his name to the Duneland Education Foundation.
