Interact Bike Drive is a success!

The Chesterton High School Interact Club held a bike drive on Saturday, May 15th from 9 am-3 pm in the high school parking lot where they collected nearly 160(!) used and broken bikes from the community. The bikes were donated to Working Bikes Cooperative, a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization based in Chicago. Working Bikes repairs used bikes and ships them overseas to the Gulf Coast, Ghana, Tanzania, Angola, Cuba, Guatemala, and Peru where they are highly valued for means of transportation. CHS Interact Teacher Sponsor Bob Kelly, as well as Chesterton-Porter Rotary Club President Christine Newton, oversaw the collection event.
